FSJG Index™ Review The Gold Stock Technician Newsletter July 16, 2007 General CommentsIt was a good week for capital markets and precious metals as stocks soared and metals road the wave of strong liquidity. Spot Gold ended the week higher with a gain of $11.35/oz, to close at $666.80, up from 655.45 the prior Friday. On the week, the yellow metal gained 1.73%, with spot Silver gaining 2.52% and spot Platinum tacking on 1.39%. For the week, Silver ended at a reading of $13.01, up .32, while Platinum ended higher by $18 to finish at $1308/oz. With metal prices advancing, large cap Gold shares also added ground with the widely-watched Philly Gold and Silver Index, the XAU, pacing the sector with a gain of 4.19% to end at 151.08. That gain, added to the prior week's tally, was up 6.66%. Financial Sense Junior Gold Mining Index CommentsWith large cap miners putting on their best two week gains in some time, smaller cap gold also advanced nicely with the Financial Sense Junior Gold Mining Index (FSJG) taking on 6.69 index points or 2.03% to end the week at a close of 335.29, up from 328.60. At the end of this article, we have constructed a table which has closing prices and moving average values for all indices over the last few weeks. Perhaps one of the areas which lagged last week, were the Junior Producers, where a sharp collapse in the shares of Eldorado Gold (EGO) held back the producing index which ended the week down 3.12 index points, or .78% to finish at 397.16. Elsewhere, share prices for Development stage companies performed well, with the Junior Development Index up 10.03 index points or 1.66% to finish at a close of 613.76.
