Book Interview: Not Working, Where Have All the Good Jobs Gone?

August 15, 2019 – David Blanchflower, a British-American labor economist and professor at Dartmouth, discusses his new book Not Working, Where Have All the Good Jobs Gone? and explains why low unemployment numbers don’t signal the labor market is doing well. Unemployment rates in 2019 are about 2.5% below where they were at the start of the Great Recession. David delves into what this means for the state of the U.S. economy, explains what full employment would look like and discusses why he sees the Fed as out of touch and out of date. David also discusses how this led to the rise of populism in the U.S. and abroad. You can find David’s book here.
