Going for the Extreme: Michigan Overtakes California on Push Towards Green Energy

November 30, 2023 –Joining a handful of other states across the country, Michigan is now the latest to mandate 100% of its energy to come from renewable sources by the year 2040. Given that renewables only account for 12% of Michigan’s electricity generation at present, this amounts to one of the most ambitious and aggressive pushes towards clean energy in the nation. Today, we’re going to speak with Alex Stevens at the Institute for Energy Research about this new law as well as some of the bigger picture issues related to the ongoing attempt to transition away from fossil fuels, whether for the production of electricity or when it comes to the use of electric vehicles.
