July 22, 2024 – On today's Lifetime Planning segment, Medicare expert Brian McArthur at Design My Medicare warns of a significant disruption to Medicare pricing as part of the Inflation Reduction Act set to take effect in 2025. He specifically points out that the most significant changes are expected in prescription drug premiums, which could increase by 50-100% unless the current legislation is amended. Brian notes that although these premiums are intended to be offset by a cap on out-of-pocket expenses, he explains why this is unlikely to happen for most people currently on Medicare.
